Pharma Logistics President and CEO Mike Zaccaro was approached by a member of Beam Global in mid 2011 regarding the Holiday Meals
for Military program. Upon learning what the Meals for Military program does Mike decided to become involved and Pharma Logistics
donated $5,500 to the program in December of 2011!
During a recent interview, Michael Zaccaro shared his thoughts about the Holiday Meals for Military program and its impact in 2011:
How did Pharma Logistics get involved in the Holiday Meals for Military Program?
"My neighbor reached out to me because he's involved in the program. When he'd explained what the program does for
families in the military it made perfect sense to me that we be a part of this because we work so closely with our DOD/ VA clients.
I felt this was a cause that we could really get behind."
What motivated Pharma Logistics to get involved?
"We've serviced the DOD/ VA for 15 years, and they've been a significant client for us. When I travel to meet
with DOD/VA clients in person I can see the overwhelming needs that the individuals who are seeking care from DOD/VA medical facilities have.
We wanted to contribute because of the sacrifices these people have made to keep this country free."
If I may ask, why did Pharma Logistics donate the amount that it did?
"A full meal costs roughly $50 with this program. A family receives a 12LB Turkey, Stuffing, Cranberry Sauce, Bread and
the rest of the trimmings for this amount. $5,000 was the donation we originally planned. However, during the Joint Forces Pharmacy
Show (JFPS) in Austin, TX we incentivized military personnel by stating that we would donate $5.00 to the program for each person who
visited our booth. In the end we ended up donating $5,500 because of the turnout that we had at the JFPS."
Do you think this program makes a difference to those that serve in the military?
"When you consider the fact that those who are serving our country are leaving their families for an extended period of
time I feel that a contribution such as a complete meal for the holidays does make a difference. The spouses of those that serve are single
parents for a period of time, and in many cases have only one source of income. These individuals and families are also making a sacrifice
that should not go unnoticed."
Do you feel this program was a success?
"Yes, the program was an overwhelming success! The goal of Holiday Meals for Military was to provide 2,000 meals in 2011,
and they surpassed that goal. We are very excited about being a part of helping them achieve that goal!"
Given what Holiday Meals for Military has accomplished in 2011 does Pharma Logistics plan to be involved again in 2012?
"Yes, we will continue to support this program, it's been a great experience for us at Pharma Logistics and we look forward
to helping out in 2012 as well!"
